American Heart Association Student Manual (Book or eBook)

Each student must have the current appropriate course Book or eBook available for use before, during, and after the course.

Books and eBooks are designed for individual use and are an integral part of the student’s education. Students may reuse their Books or eBooks during renewal or updates until new science guidelines are published.

American Heart Association Course Equipment

By January 31, 2019, the AHA will require the use of an instrumented directive feedback device or manikin in all AHA courses that teach the skills of adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Specifically, an instrumented directive feedback device or manikin is one that, at a minimum, provides audio or visual (or both) feedback on the rate and depth of compressions during CPR Training.

CPR Heart of Angels has already implemented the use of instrumented directive feedback manikins in all AHA courses offered.

American Heart Association eCards

Beginning January 1, 2018, all US-based Training Centers will be required to use AHA eCards for issuing course completion cards to providers and students who successfully complete the requirements of AHA courses. Therefore, beginning in January 2018, use of eCards will become mandatory.

To verify an eCard, go to https://heart.org/cpr/mycards and enter the eCard code or scan the QR code on the student eCard.

All AHA course completion eCards are valid for 2 years from the date in which the course completion eCard was issued.

American Heart Association Provider Course Exam

As part of the new education methodologies, the AHA has adopted an open-resource policy for exams administered online through an eLearning course and in a classroom-based course. Open-resource means that students may use resources as references while completing the exam. Resources include the Provider Manual in printed form. Open-resource does not mean open discussion with other students or the instructor.
