Description of Course: 

The ASLS – Advanced Stroke Life Support was created by The American Heart Association and The Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education, University of Miami partnership to reduce deaths and disabilities of stroke patients. An Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor may teach the American Heart Association HeartCode ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support) Hands-On In-Person Skills Session. Once student successfully complete both Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Online Part 1 Blended eLearning and Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Hands-On In-Person Skills Session, an American Heart Association Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Provider eCard will be issued and valid for 2 years. Current AHA Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) eBook is included with the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Online Part 1 Blended eLearning Course. You do not need to purchase Advanced Stroke Life Support eBook separately. This course is designed for all healthcare professionals who are involved in the management of acute stroke patients, or who work at hospitals that meet the education requirements for Stroke Center Certification. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, neurology, intensive care, stroke care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics, and others who need an ASLS course completion card for job or other requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL Advanced Stroke Life Support INSTRUCTORS MUST select the AHA Advanced Stroke Life Support Blended eLearning Online Part 1 Pre-hospital & In-hospital Course.

The Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Initial Course requires an Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Essentials Online Course, American Heart Association Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Provider eCard, and a hands-on skills session. Instructor candidate must be aligned with an American Heart Association Training Center. CPR Heart of Angels, LLC is an authorized American Heart Association Training Center currently accepting Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Candiate Applications. On the first day of the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Course is broken up into two parts:

Part 1: The morning is the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Provider Skill Session. Please note: Instructor candidates must attend even if you already have an American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Stroke Life Support  (ASLS) Provider eCard. Please bring a printed current copy of your AHA HeartCode ASLS Online Part 1 Course Completion Certificate. Instructor will vertify your certificate before starting your Advanced Stroke Life Support Hands-On In-Person Skills Session Check. If no available certificate, class will be rescheduled for a later date and time.

Part 2: The Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Initial Instructor course is in the afternoon, Please bring your current Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Manual (Hardcopy) or eBook to class, bring a current printed copy AHA Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Online Blended eLearning ASLS Online: Prehospital & In-Hospital Provider Course Completion Certificate to class, Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Digital or Hardcopy Reference Guide to class. Please note: Your Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) knowledge and skills will be tested. Review the Agenda and ASLS Instructor Manual/eBook before coming to class.

On the second day is the monitoring portion of the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Initial Course. ASLS Instructor candidate must successfully be monitored by CPR Heart of Angels, LLC Training Center Faculty (TCF) member while teaching your first class. This will be scheduled on the second day after the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Initial Course. The Training Center Coordinator may require additional monitoring. CPR Heart of Angels, LLC is an authorized American Heart Association Training Center.

Steps to Becoming an American Heart Association ASLS Instructor: 

Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) instructor candidates must meet certain requirements before taking the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Initial Course and before attending the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) hands-on in-person skills session. All instructor candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Student will need to complete an Instructor Candidate Application and align with an authorized American Heart Association Training Center before enrolling in the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Initial Course. ASLS Instructor candidate must have an American Heart Association Training Center that has agreed to accept them as an Instructor once they have completed the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Essentials and their monitoring is completed. CPR Heart of Angels, LLC is an authorized American Heart Association Training Center currently accepting ASLS Instructor Candidate Applications.
  • Student must have current American Heart Association Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Combined Provider Course eCard with eCard number status and be proficient in all of the skills that is required under the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) discipline. 
  • Student must have current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor Course eCard with eCard number status and be proficient in all of the skills that is required under the Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) discipline.
  • Student must successfully complete the AHA Guidelines Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Essentials Online Course and the classroom Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Hands-On In-Person Skills Session. You can purchase and pay American Heart Association directly. You must print the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Essential Online Course Completion Certificate and bring a printed copy to the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Course. The Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Essentials Online Course must be completed before attending the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Course. 
  • Student must successfully complete the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Classroom Course and Paperwork.
  • Student must successfully be monitored by CPR Heart of Angels, LLC Training Center Faculty (TCF) member while teaching your first class.   • Student will be issued an Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Course eCard after successful completion of all requirements.

  • Your Training Center will grant you access to the current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources, and tools through the online Atlas American Heart Association Instructor Network. Instructors will be granted access to post your classes on the Atlas American Heart Association Public Class Connector after completion of the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor Initial Course.
